Autism and Vaccines -- the Truth Behind a Tragedy
May 04, 2019
You may not know his name -- but if you have ever heard of the supposedly, "Discredited" MD who fathered the anti-vaccination movement with his study that alleged vaccines caused autism -- this is the man they are referring to. . Sadly however -- this oft repeated narrative is based upon lies that are easy to demonstrate: . 1) His published study NEVER alleged that vaccines cause autism -- read it for yourself Here: . https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736%2897%2911096-0/fulltext . It was a case control study newly describing a bowel disease common in autistic children -- all he did was to document what parents told him -- that they first noticed symptoms following a vaccine. . 2) Wakefield did not father the anti-vaccine movement -- it was in full force prior to the publication of this study because so many people had already experienced serious harms following a vaccine. For example A shot in the Dark (by journalist Harris Coulter and Barbara Loe Fisher) was published in 1991 and Fisher founded an organization to educate people about vaccine dangers in 1982. The fabulous book, Vaccination -- 100 Years of Orthodox Research Shows that Vaccines Represent a Medical Assault on the Immune System, was published in 1993 by Australian researcher, Dr. Viera Scheibner and she was speaking in America long before anyone heard of Wakefield. This narrative seeks only to vilify Wakefield and seek to keep people from considering the content of his research.
