I believe some of us readers have become jaded after reading so many of the great mysteries by Mary Higgins Clark. There are quite a few reviews that seem to be discontented. From what I see, she has given us more of what we have loved since picking up "Where Are the Children?". The story starts with a compelling crime that is complicated to solve. There is a main character we like and at least one detective or policeman that we feel we can trust. Alongside of these two we view the scene in a panoramic way in bits and pieces-- a bit like how it feels to begin working on a jigsaw puzzle. Clark takes all those loose ends and ties them up in about 250 pages. She is also the queen of the plot twist taking a character who we see in benign or positive ways and making him or her the culprit.
I definitely appreciate the contributions Mary Higgins Clark has made to the mystery genre and hope she will be able to continue writing for many years in the future.
