Fans of George Smiley, rejoice!
John Le Carré returns to some of his best-known characters after a long hiatus, as the fallout from a very cold case (and the offspring of a very cold spy) arise from the embers. Now, in the days of enhanced interrogation and potential abuse of national security, new revelations threaten the integrity of the Service to which Smiley's one-time protégé Peter Guillam devoted his life, and perhaps even Guillam himself. A case that was the prequel to "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold" (and tinged with the claustrophobic tension of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy") unravels before our eyes, and Le Carré as always is asking what human price is too much to pay for intelligence.
