From the back cover of Amy and Roger's Epic Detour... " It wouldn't be a road trip without some detours... Amy Curry is not looking forward to the summer. Her mother decided to move across the country and now it's Amy's responsibility to get their car from California to Connecticut. The only problem is, since her father died in a car accident, she isn't ready to get behind the wheel. Enter Roger. An old family friend, he also has to make the cross-country trip--and has plenty of baggage of his own. The road home may be unfamiliar--especially with their friendship venturing into uncharted territory--but together, Amy and Roger will figure out how to map their way."

Add a CommentI really love this book! Normally, when there's a story about teens running off on their own in any way, my mind immediately defaults to "Yeah right." But this novel really makes it seem much more realistic, provides that delicious romance, and really hits the teen desires!
I found the whole road trip experience interesting, but also not the most interesting thing I have read. The adventures and fun that Amy and Roger go through are plentiful and apparently based off the author's own experiences, which I found cool. In comparison with her newer books however, I like the newer ones better because I feel like I could relate to them more, and she has definitely improved in her writing. But an accident left protagonist Amy in a situation where she struggles to find herself again, while on a road trip with an old family friend Roger. He seems to be holding something back from her, and a suspected something may start. I found this whole book cute, so I am sure many others who haven't read this will too! 4.5/5 stars
