Originally released back in 1969 - "Green River" would be CCR's 3rd studio album. Rolling Stone magazine ranks this album at #95 on their list of "500 Greatest Rock Albums of All Time".
CCR were a California-based rock band who specialized in the musical genres of "swamp rock" and "roots rock". Most of their songs were solely written by singer/guitarist, John Fogerty.
This 2008 reissue of "Green River" contains all original 9 tracks, plus 6 bonus songs (some of which are live recordings).

I already like the band. the cover photo brings a buzz of nostalgia. somehow I recognize those tree trunks, that scenery. the greatest #2 pop band ever (many of their singles stalled at #2, not making #1, which gave one bragging rights in the industry. it even went so far as, if you dethroned the beatles from the #1 ranking, that made your rep. (this occurred for Engelbert Humperdinck, and for Frank Sinatra, with RELEASE ME, and STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT, respectively. this is still done for movies: "#1 movie in the land!" before the beatles, this was elvis' habit ( topping the charts). certainly this indicated popularity, and dominance in the field of entertainment. Performers eat that applause up. Some have said that it's what they live for.
Amazingly, this was one of 3 (3!) albums CCR in 1969. It feels like a greatest hits album in that every song is well-known and excellent. Essential.
