What a letdown. The premise sounds great but the writing is weak. I read to chapter 6 and then gave up. She has other great books. I love the Lords of Underworld series.

This looked good, but after reading a few chapters I picked up a book I had on hold, which grabbed my attention more than this did after those first chapters. I continued reading the other book and gave up on this one. I think I might be romantic-fantasied out at the moment.

Gena Showalter has yet to write something that I haven't loved. This story was very interesting - I finished it in one day. I loved meeting past characters from other books. I hope Gena continues to write Atlantis books for us to enjoy.

Grayson James, a sort of paranormal soldier of fortune, knows that there are weird lands & creatures out there. It's his job to plunder the alien secrets for the betterment & protection of the human race. But when he is sent after the Jewel of Dunamis he encounters some of these creatures and he gets bitten by them. Soon he is taking on some characterists of the demons and vampires. He's trying to deal with these while working to protect Jewel. When he sent out he thought he was looking for a jem-stone, The Jewel ends up being, well Jewel. She's the first women that has every captured his attendtio so fully. She has watched him, (she has visions and can read minds) through childhood & all the way through adulthood with his dangerous missions & erotic affairs. And now she knows he's coming for her.

Jewel must decide if she reveals her identity to Grayson. They pair up to survive the dangers of Atlantis with absolutly everyone after them. They end up seeking aid from the dragons and we meet up with several well known characters who it was a pleasure to encounter again.
My only complaint is that
there was no real explanation of why they dreamed of each other and no real explanation of what the hero, Grayson James, was going to do with his part-demon, part-vampire self in the "human world" and how they plan to live in the human world. The book just ended in a very harsh way.
