Not the best series I've ever read, but close. Shannon Messenger brings her characters to life, she writes them as if SHE had lived their lives, she writes exactly what they would do, say, and think, and she never makes them do anything that isn't true to (pun intended) their character. The writing is well done, the plot refreshingly new and different (they say nothing under the sun is new. This is false. Keeper of the Lost Cities is a never-seen-before wonder of modern English literature). One never knows what to expect when diving into one of Shannon Messenger's books. I'm sure writers all over America are asking: "What is her secret?!?" I know I am. It's amazing that this book hasn't won any awards. The cover art is well done as well. I recommend this book to any and all with a taste for fantasy and a few free hours.
Note: The hours must be completely free of obligation, once you start reading this series there's no way your setting the book down. Not even to get out of a burning house.

P.S. Team Fitzphie forever! Down with Fosterkeefe!
P.P.S. I'm serious, though. This series is amazing, I need to find Shannon Messenger and make her give me her writing genius. Her characters are so well developed. The reader is sucked into the Keeper Vortex from the first word of the first page. I'm going to fan-out here for a second,
READ THIS BOOK IT IS AMAZING YOU WILL LOVE IT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO HATE IT SHANNON MESSENGER HAS BEEN GIFTED WITH THE POWER OF ALL OF THE GREAT AUTHORS IT IS AMAZING JUST READ THE BOOK STOP READING MY COMMENT IT'S TAKING AWAY FROM YOUR READING TIME NEVER LET ANYTHING TAKE AWAY YOUR READING TIME OF KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES

I don't think I need to do a complete synopsis of the series because it has already been done, but the entire series is very well written. There are virtually no errors/typos to be found. The series is about 12 year old Sophie, and her "adventures" after she discovers that she is an elf, not a human, and moves to the Lost Cities to live life as an elf. This book is rather gory - kidnappings, life-threatening injuries, and murders galore - so it really depends on your maturity level whether you can read it. The characters are very lovable and you just want to protect them at all costs even though you have no ability to do so, and you'll be rooting for Sophie through the whole series. The villains and their plans are very well thought out and unpredictable. Actually, most of the aspects of the book are unpredictable, and you don't have to worry about "well, I know how this story is going to go." To wrap it up, this whole series is incredible and it would be a great idea to read it.

This book is amazing. I couldn't get it out of my hands the first time I read it. It's the type of book that you read over and over again.

This is one of my favorite series ever! The cast of characters is great! The first book is kind of like Harry Potter, so much so that I was like, "Hmmm, is this a recreation of Hogwarts?" there are lots of similarities between the two books, such as a magical school with an awe-inspiring campus, however, later in the series, it kind of branches out. Also, this book is suitable for any age really, though they are long in length, there isn't a ton of complexity, so you could probably read it anywhere from third grade to high school. However, in order to get some of the references in it (such as the council's slight corruptness, people being judged by their abilities etc.) you would need to be older to understand it. Otherwise, it's a great book! (Also, team Fitzphie forever!)

Other: This is an amazing book, the reader won't be able to put it down without major medical attention. I will say this: if you are a parent and would prefer it if your kids did not read books with girls having crushes on guys you may want to steer clear of this series

Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret—at least, that’s what she thinks…

But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out.
