Simon and Garfunkel sure recorded some memorable songs.
I kinda agree with the comment about the remastered disc taking some liberties with the songs, and what also struck me was how dated this stuff now sounds.Listening to this with my 20 something daughter, who likes certain songs, and me trying to explain how big this music was to our generation, but it now sounds trite or cute, and not as ground breaking as we thought.
Digitally remastered is not always better. There are aberrations on this remastered version of particular songs I don't care for. If you've never heard the original music on LPs back in the day, you probably won't know or hear the difference.
Lots of fine music.
One never tires of those two... such talent.
During the 1960s, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel (aka. Simon & Garfunkel) were one of pop music's most acclaimed duo acts of that era.
With their easy-listening, folk-rock sound, Simon & Garfunkel scored a string of solid, #1 hits throughout the latter half of said decade.
It was, of course, Paul Simon's songwriting talent that was solely behind the penning of all these memorable tunes. Simon clearly had a notable gift for compositions containing excellent syncopated harmony.
Throughout his long career as a singer/songwriter, Paul Simon has earned a grand total of 12 Grammy awards for both his solo and collaborative work.
This "Best Of" CD features 20 of Simon & Garfunkel's most remembered tunes (from between 1964-1975), such as - Sound Of Silence, Homeward Bound, I Am A Rock, and, of course, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, to name but a few.
simon and garfunkel is one of my favorite groups
We are lucky to be able to enjoy such gems. Those of us who listen for the first time to great songs such as "Bridge over troubled water" are reliving the best moments of the last few decades.
Wonderful old songs sung by the best duo of the 70's.
