I really don't know exactly what to say. This was a bizarre story. Moriarty's writing is quite good, but the story was a little too much to believe. I also thought the ending was a little too pat. This didn't measure up in my mind to her previous books, but some may find it interesting.

I wasn't quite sure where this book was headed after the first 50 pages, but I stuck with it and it ended up being an enjoyable quick and easy read. The author does a great job of setting up each characters story, and keeping you on the hook until the very end. A great twist at the end set up for some laughs and I could imagine this novel also being turned into a mini series like Big Little Lies was.

An easy book to zip through. The plot? Surprising but just too far fetched. This would be a good book to read on an airplane (not to knock airplane reading...I once picked up Twilight at an airport and thoroughly enjoyed my time on that flight).

Not her best. Actually....probably her worst effort.
I did empathize with a few of the characters, but the ridiculous plot dragged the book down.

As with all of this author’s books, I love the great effort she puts into her research whether it be Sydney’s detailed suburban geography, the vagaries of cello acoustics or the unpredictable explosiveness of a Meditation Retreat. It puts so much substance and credibility into her work.

Disappointing! The first part of the story just dragged then all of a sudden it took a bizarre turn, really bizarre. I really did not care for the story at all.

It started off fine, but I quickly got mired down. I felt the same as the reviewer who said reading it was like walking through quicksand. Could have been a good book (it had an interesting premise) but there were too many subplots, characters and pages. It read, to me, as if it were a first draft rather than a polished, well-edited novel, so I'm not sure why it's getting so many stellar reviews. Compared to her other books, I don't think this one measures up.

I read between 75 and 100 books per year. This is the worst I've read in a long time.
It was like trying to walk through quicksand. I'm angry that I wasted so much time on it!!

Another great book by Lianne Moriarty --- nine "perfect strangers" go to a luxury wellness center & they all bring their own "baggage". The Director also has her own baggage, which unfolds as the story develops. There is an element of suspense & psychological thriller.
A lot of twists & turns makes this a true "page turner".

Who could guess that nine perfect strangers who up and decide to go on a "wellness retreat" would come with extra baggage? This book slowly and enticingly unpacks it all as the guests of Tranquillum House are led by Masha, an expert in physical, mental, and emotional transformation, on a path towards ultimate enlightenment. But their fascinating host has some secrets of her own and that's when things get really twisty.

This book has a little bit of everything, which makes sense with so many key players. It's deep, poignant, creepy, funny, suspenseful. By the end was I trying to nail down what this book is *really* about and I landed on human connection and how we each are affected by tragedy, and conversely, love.
