From Nora Roberts comes the #1 New York Times bestseller Shelter in Place (June 2018) -- a powerful tale of heart, heroism...and propulsive suspense.

It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video-game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived.

The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever. In the years that followed, one would dedicate himself to a law enforcement career. Another would close herself off, trying to bury the memory of huddling in a ladies' room, hopelessly clutching her cell phone--until she finally found a way to pour her emotions into her art.

But one person wasn't satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. And as the survivors slowly heal, find shelter, and rebuild, they will discover that another conspirator is lying in wait--and this time, there might be nowhere safe to hide.

Really really enjoyed it. Couldn't put it down....kept me up late at night. Really different plot. Opens with 3 shooters at a Mall in Maine. Several people die, many wounded, but the police get their quickly and one shooter is killed and 2 others commit suicide. Think it's over right? Wrong....after several years, one of the shooter's sister is furious at the death of her brother and decides to finish the job. She goes after the survivors. Excellent read.

I don't believe I've read any of her books before this. But it had interesting characters and the plot moved along well. An easy and quick read. Very much today with the mass shooting at the beginning.

Roberts did I good job depicting a very real situation and I enjoyed the book. However, I got the feeling that she liked writing the bad guy's character more, which made it so there was zero mystery involved. And then an anti-climatic ending for said bad guy was a bit of a let down.

And dude - a joke about throwing me over for my grandma once, maybe twice is funny. A constant theme is rather annoying.

OK, but thought the ending could have been more 'dramatic' . . . rather anti climaxing!

Another great story from Nora Roberts. It is very relevant considering what has been happening in the U.S. over the past several years. Good mystery spiced up with romance.

Haunting. I have always loved Nora Roberts' writing. This one was different. I cried and cried. It pulled me through like a magnet. Trust Nora to get to the heart of things.

As always, when I read a Nora Roberts novel, I say this one is the best. I did it again when I finished "Shelter In Place". It grabbed me from the first page and kept me until I finished it today. It came to life and I 'watched' as all the events took place. It was scary because our world has become too much like this scenario. And I cried at the end. Nora Roberts is the best and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys being transported to another place for a time.

The mass shooter theme is the basis of the story. Roberts handles it quite interestingly.

Once again Nora Roberts at her best. I have been reading her for years and can't wait each time for her next book to come out.
