"Class reunions: a time for memories--good, bad, and, as Virgil Flowers is about to find out, deadly--in the thrilling new novel in the #1 New York Times-bestselling series Virgil knows the town of Trippton, Minnesota, a little too well. A few years back, he investigated the corrupt - and as it turned out, homicidal - local school board, and now the town's back in view with more alarming news: A woman's been found dead, frozen in a block of ice. There's a possibility that it might be connected to a highschool class of twenty years ago that has a mid-winter reunion coming up, and so, wrapping his coat a little tighter, Virgil begins to dig into twenty years' worth of traumas, feuds, and bad blood. In the process, one thing becomes increasingly clear tohim. It's true what they say: High school is murder"--

found myself missing lucas; he seems to have more concentrated, directed purpose than virgil does; however, there are more funny lines in this virgil flowers book. the publisher's excerpted blurb seems misleading, as it appears to say the novel is more focused on the characters' high school days, and even the connections to those days still being true in contemporary time. I would have said it is a story about an incestuous small town, and the intrepid though wry, state investigator who is sent to solve a murder, and has to sift through many seemingly innocent acquaintances of the victim, in that quest. the murder opens the book, but for a long period, nothing very active occurs. It resembles a columbo tv episode, in the way it is structured, then. were I all that interested in editing my little blurbs, I could have just written that preceding sentence. I've written nearly 2000 of these, so far, and the librarians have said there are a million items in the catalog. so i'll keep on keeping on, as a 60s or 70s song once sang/said.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn’t fantastic but was an enjoyable read. Sandford always produces.

My first Virgil Flowers story. Thought it was just ok. Large Print version had a recurring typo -- "but" kept showing up as "ut".

This is a 4 1/2 out of 5. I look forward to Virgil Flowers but this one isn't up to the others thought it was a good story and I did enjoy it.

Virgil finds himself back in Trippton Minnesota tasked with solving the murder of local bank president, Gina Hemming, and helping an LA PI Margaret S Griffin to shut down an illegal Barbie modification operation run by Jess McGovern.

In typical Flowers contemplation, the dolls bring him more bodily harm - as the mouse to a clan of angry cats - making Virgil resort to carrying his gun.

The characters all have their story line nicely concluded and Virgil finally meets Jess without having to arrest her.

Another "good ole boy" story featuring Virgil Flowers of the MBCA

Another enjoyable romp with Virgil in small town Minnesota! Yes, it's a bit formulaic, but it's also funny, entertaining, and a good escape from the December chill in Minnesota!
