An epic story of war, redemption and hope, My Enemy, My Brother tells the incredible story of two men - one from Iraq, the other from Iran - who were destined to be enemies, but instead found in each other mercy and kindness. Nearly 20 years later - after surviving war, torture, being held as POW and heartbreaking loss - the two men found themselves sitting beside each other. As the two men told one another the story of how they'd come to Vancouver and found their way to the waiting room where they sat, they realised their paths had crossed before.

this is the most fascinating and moving book I have read in a long time - and I have read a lot of books. I knew(or thought I knew) the story from cbc interviews but I was unprepared for the feelings this book left me with. The very worst and the very best of humankind all in one book. Everyone in the world should read this book.

I thought I knew the ending as I have read the reviews in the Globe and Mail. The ending itself is wonderful, but what happened before their lives intersected is so interesting and moving and I could not help but read as fast as I can. I just cannot help wondering how they met in Vancouver. I cannot put this book down, it is written with human insights and humour as well.
