Terence Winter without David Chase is always a disappointment. The Sopranos were fantastic, but this series is badly cast, with actors who are supporting players trying to be the stars. You will notice many of Terence Winters pals from the other shows he has done, doing a poor job of portraying their characters.

Bobby Cannavale does not come across as a hard nosed and driven businessman who can build an empire. Neither is he believable as a fanatical music lover who knows the NY music scene like the back of his hand and who signs the hot new acts. He is just a buddy of the people who made the show, coming across as a actor who can't handle his scenes. And he is the best they have. Nobody else is the cast is worth mentioning.

Smart move by HBO to dump this one after a single season. Could have been great but wasn't.

This is supposed to be a series about a record label in the 1970s. There's not enough about the music and far too much focus on drugs and scenes of disturbingly graphic violence. Not recommended.

pathetic and pointless- wallowing in stupid self-indulgent darkness -- no wonder they cancelled it

Punk hasn't happened yet. Disco is waiting. These pop culture movements are shown in their infant stages in the despair of 70's drug addled New York City. This is the seedy underbelly of the record industry. Read Ahmet Ertegun's fabulous biography for more info. Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, The New York Dolls, even Elvis Presley makes an appearance. I do wish they had spent more time on the music instead of the personal lives of the characters. Scorsese's usual themes of money, power and debauchery, on a rockstar level. Wolf Of Wall Street as a record exec.

I watched a couple of episodes and decided it was not for me.

Each episode is pretty much a repeat of the one before. I get it, music people in the 70's did a lot of drugs. What else can you tell me? Great cast, great creators and great production do not always lead to a great delivery. Too bad.

Initially it looked interesting but as every episode involved drug taking, swearing and sex it did become a bit tedious. Shame because it has a terrific cast.

Complete and total disappointment. Barely watchable. Surprising considering the talented people involved in front and behind the camera.
