Paper Girls is a time travel comic that begins in 1988 starring a diverse group of teenage girls who all have paper routes. Until most of the people in their town disappear after they find a weird alien device in a basement, at which point there isn't much call for newspapers, and also they spent most of their time running for their lives, caught between two factions engaged in a time travel war, and trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

The first volume felt a little baffling, even on re-read, though it had plenty of intriguing mystery. But can I say how amazing it felt to read a science fiction comic where teen girls are the stars? The second volume included more answers about the war and deeper character development, so that's when the series really "clicked" for me. (Yes, someone does meet up with their future self, because time travel.) The third volume was a little more straightforward "stranded in the past" storyline, and I enjoyed it. So far, Paper Girls is a strong sci-fi action comic centered around girls and women, with POC, Jewish, and queer rep, and I'm looking forward to the fourth volume.

I hate to recommend a comic without discussing the art, but I don't know what to say about Cliff Chiang's art except that I always adore it.

I always love reading Brian K. Vaughn. Paper Girls didn't disappoint me. Vaughn is a great storyteller and character developer. This story strikes has a sort of Stranger Things vibe, so if you dig that show, this story may be a good read for you.

Nostalgia! Love this graphic novel set in the 80s about a gang of paper delivery girls.

I didn't know what to expect, and I didn't get anything like I was expecting... in the best possible way. Strange, gritty, and unique with art to match, it keeps you wondering and wanting more.

This comic isn't just for the Teen audience it's rated for. If you are a child of the 1980's, or raised children during that time, and enjoy a bit of science fiction time travel, you will enjoy this adventure in which four brave paper girls work together to save the world.

This mystery thriller comic follows Erin, a paper girl in her neighbourhood. It's early Halloween morning and she meets the other paper girls in surrounding areas. They team up this time of year because of possibly dangerous people. The group of four spit up into partners. One of the pairs is attacked and Erin and her partner come to help but the perpetrators have escaped already. Soon after, the group of girls start investigating and find some very peculiar things in the neighbourhood. The situation eventually escalates to the entire town seemingly becoming abandoned. They find an empty house with a strange device and they get zapped. Ultimately they come into contact with aliens in the now hollow suburb. The girls must survive alone after the strange events, getting pulled into something way over their heads. If anyone is a fan of 'Stanger Things' then this comic surely is the thing, not only featuring a mostly female cast of characters, this 1988 setting would bring back nostalgia to most older avid readers. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the supernatural genre taking on a new spin of things.

Take the creepy wee-hours-after-Halloween vibe, add five tough girls, mix in some mysterious sci-fi elements and you've got one riveting read!

I'm still not sure what happened in the story, but I did like it and can't wait to read Vol. 2.

This graphic novel capitalizes on 80s nostalgia in all the right ways. The characterization and the illustrations perfectly fit the era. Well, until the craziness starts to happen! It's a wild ride that is, at times, confusing. However, you can see glimmers of the answers ahead and it makes you so eager to see what happens next! Volume two is just as gripping and exciting.

"Terrific. Nothing spooky about basements."
