Ripley is recovering from her first encounter with the deadly alien. Her account of that event is received with skepticism, but transmissions from a colony later established on the Alien's planet abruptly cease. Burke, an up-and-coming company man, talks Ripley into going back with a squad of colonial marines. Of course the Marines do not take her warnings seriously either, until they come face-to-face with the awesome alien spawn.

One of the very few times that a sequel can be said to be better than the original. MUST see this movie with all the extra footage that was taken out at the theaters. Extra footage really makes a difference for this film and explains some of the backstory that was originally lacking.

Acid-bleeding aliens are out to kill humans and protect their queen.

I find myself saying this quite a bit lately, but when I reach back to a film I haven’t seen in a long time, I’m rarely disappointed in revisiting it. It is still timeless because it’s so well done. The big, boxy computers and a few curly hairstyles is the only thing that gave away it’s been 19 years since it was made. The music is excellent, incredible tension, well defined characters, wonderful cast, and a great story. I don’t think of it as a horror film as much as a scary, creepy Sci-Fi film. Even though I vaguely remembered what was going to happen, I still found the tension and build up surprising.

A classic.
Still good watching after all these years.
(Deserves the M rating.)
People I know that don't like scifi, and don't like action movies still love this scifi action movie. Pure class.

Just about the best movie with horror, science fiction & kickass action.
Why not a strong female as the lead?
Good call on average looking Paul Reiser to play the slimy corporate executive.

It's interesting to compare Ridley Scott's "Alien" to James Cameron's sequel. Both are extremely well made films, from world class directors. But each also reflects the very different sensibilities of the two. "Alien" is colder, more precise, more haunting and disturbing. "Aliens" is a thrill ride from start to end, faster paced, more muscular and energetic, less serious, and sloppier – in ways both good and bad - than it's progenitor.

The successful follow up to ' Alien ', directed by Canadian James Cameron, this is is a slow burn sequel that ends in a nail biting finale.

Favourite movie quote - "Get away from her, you bitch!!"

Yeah. Yeah... I'm sure we can all agree on this - When it comes to movie sequels (in the Sci-Fi/Horror genre) Aliens is, without a doubt, a colossal success. (Heck. I was pretty impressed, myself)... But, hey!!.... I did find some pretty annoying bits in the story and this prevented me from honouring Aliens with a much higher ranking than just 3 stars.

All of the annoying bits are, of course, forgivable - But, still, I'm itching to point them out to you, like you wouldn't believe. And, it all goes like this....

Annoying Bit #1 - 57 Years!! That's right - 57! Is there anyone else out there, besides myself, who isn't at all convinced about the plausibility of 57 years passing since Ripley (and her cat) nodded off into deep space "hyper-sleep"? It really killed me when the Space Salvage Team finally did locate them (by sheer accident). They were actually disappointed that Ripley was still alive.

Annoying Bit #2 - Newt!! Yeah. The kid, the brat, the rug-rat. She was so irritating that she made my skin crawl. She was, literally, a ball-&-chain around the collective-neck of the entire Rescue Team. I think that Newt should've been left behind as an alien snack. Yeah. She really should've.

Annoying Bit #3 - Yeah. I admit that this one might well be scraping the bottom of the barrel - But what the heck. This one goes right back to the original Alien. I would like to know where the hell the aliens' eyes and ears are. It's especially the eyes that I wanna know the location of - 'Cause I've freeze-framed dozens of shots of these torpedo-headed critters and looked real close at their elongated noggins and I still can't see where the frick their eyes and ears are.

Anyway - That about wraps up my beef for today. Hope I haven't turned anyone off of Aliens with what I said. It was all done in good fun, folks..... (*Watch "Battle Scene" video-clip*)

This is one of the greatest movies ever made. It far surpasses the first movie "Alien". Everything from the story, to the acting, to the intensity, to the action, to the visuals is perfect and flawless. This is storytelling at its very best folks. Solid film, 10/10. Does everything Alien does but does it better.

Just saw director's cut again on 100" screen home theater setup. The action and sound was just as intense as I remember seeing in the theater so many years ago as characters and monsters come alive full size. For its time period it's a pretty exciting movie.
