I'm a middle-aged woman with an elderly mom living at home. We don't agree on much when it comes to movies--her favorite movie is Mister Roberts and mine is The Big Lebowski--but we both love this one. It makes me want to live in a close-knit apartment community, although I'd certainly close my blinds more often than the characters in this film do. Recommended for families looking for a thriller that's not adrenaline overkill, or a gentle character study that won't put you to sleep. It's especially good to watch in an air conditioned room during these hot summer days so you can appreciate what life was like before modern conveniences.

My favorite Hitchcock thriller starring the amazing James Stewart as a wheelchair bound photographer living in an apartment complex that allows him to see into all of his neighbors' windows. Does he see one commit a crime? Does he convince his girlfriend, Grace Kelly, and his physical therapist, Thelma Ritter, that he has seen something and that they need to do something about it? Check this one out and see what develops.

If you've seen this film get the copy that has the commentary by with John Farwell revealing a lot of the backstory, especially about the sound design of the film. Anyone wanting more from Hitchcock at this point ( a twist at the end so L.B. Jeffries is wrong about Lars Thorwald?...C'mon!) has been swallowed-up by the crass, facile, what-passes-for-script-writing post Star Wars.

In my opinion, belongs in both Hitchcock and Stewart's top 3 films lists. Based on a short story by a guy that rarely left his apartment, Cornell Woolrich (William Irish).

One of the few Hitchcock movies that hasn't become laughable with age. Sorry, Hitchcock fans, you know it's true.

Alfred Hitchcock is a cinematic tour de force when it comes to crafting some of the most memorable and exhilarating suspense thrillers ever to grace the screen. Rear Window belongs among the directors finest works, this is a film that steadily builds up the tension, and what makes this such a unique film is the fact that Hitchcock uses a simple concept to tell a broader story.

An absolute classic. Not to be missed-- ages well, and cool to see Raymond Burr (Perry Mason) playing the heavy! One of Hitchcock's paranoiac best!!

I saw this at the library and thought, 'huh, this looks interesting.' I haven't really watched many Alfred Hitchcock films but watching this I see why he was such a famous film director and why he's still well known! The whole movie was good especially the ending. It was so suspenseful I started to scream at my TV!

I don't know about where you live - But in the 14-storey building that faces the building where I live in Burnaby - I'd say that less than 20% of its tenants actually keep their curtains wide-opened all the time.

And, of course, this was not at all like it was in "Rear Window" where, literally, everyone was, pretty much, parading around in front of their windows (except for the bashful newlyweds) without any care, or concern, in the world that the guy across the courtyard was not only using binoculars (but a telescope, as well) to observe their private activities

Anyway - With that said - I thought that this 1954, Alfred Hitchcock thriller was fairly entertaining. Its story certainly did build quite nicely up to its adrenaline-charged climatic finale.

Rear Window is a great film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Jimmy Stewart, Grace Kelly and Raymond Burr. For me, the best part is watching most of the action take place in the elaborate set of the neighboring apartment building. A little humor and romance help to balance the suspense.
