A popular high school basketball star ventures into the woods and disappears. Three days later, he's found with a bullet in his head and a gun in his hand - a discovery that sends tremors through this conservative community, already unnerved by growing rumours of Satanic worship in the region. Hannah Dexter is befriended by Lacey Champlain, a dark-eyed, Cobain-worshiping bad influence. As Lacey gradually lures Dex away from her safe life into a feverish spiral of obsession, rebellion, and ever greater risk, an unwelcome figure appears on the horizon - and Lacey's secret history collides with Dex's worst nightmare.

I really enjoyed the perspective that it was wrote from. I didn't like the ending that's my only complaint.

Enjoyed this read. It shows the dark underbelly of a seemingly quite PA town. It's a more raunchy, "who done it" version of Mean Girls.

This is Wasserman's first adult novel. The subject of two teens who share a violent and rebellious relationship is young adult subject but for adults. The story is well crafted albeit rather repetitive. If you like murder, infidelity, drunken stupors, deceit, and who did it then you'll like this book. It's not on my favorite list.

A compelling story about friendship between two girls in a small town and how things can go so so bad.
