I've been meaning to read this series for quite awhile. I've always been a fan of Hilary Duff and her multitude of talents and when she talked about her books on the Ellen show, I immediately put them on my TBR.

There are two camps of thought about this trilogy, either readers really love it or really hate it; I'm in the I love it camp! This is the kind of story that really pulls me in. I started the first book of the trilogy on Monday night... it is now Thursday night and I've finished all three books! They were pretty quick reads and I read them in pretty much every free moment I had, which was more than usual since my laptop has been on the fritz all week and hasn't been distracting me.

When I was reading reviews for these books, I was a little worried it was going to be too much like the Immortals series by Alyson Noel... which while I'm certainly a fan of, I kinda roller coaster on because I felt like the series dragged on for too long (though, I still haven't read the last book... I need to get on that... I do wanna know how it wrapped up). But I was pleased to see that while there were some themes in common, it was a totally different story and reading experience.

I felt like this final book was a really good conclusion. And I liked how she left the ending kinda open... like, she could come back to these characters if she felt the need to continue their story. Also, I think these would make a really cool movie series or a mini tv series. The imagery was so good I think it would translate really well to screen! I would have liked to see the mythology fleshed out more... more detail about the Elixir itself... how it was created, who created it, how is was just lying in a puddle in ancient Greece for anyone to come across and not destroyed by the Gods... which is another thing I would have liked to see fleshed out, maybe even included as characters... the ancient Gods. They were just kinda brought up in the final book... but it would have made sense to have them be the original creators of the Elixir and to provide some history of it all. I also would have liked to have read more about Clea's past lives and how they met Sage.

But even without all that, it was still a really enjoyable read! I'm giving it a five stars because I see myself re-reading this again someday!

Though I loved the others, this book was a let down. The tone, wallowing and watered down, was off-putting. And the love interested seemed a violent and fatuous jock. The plot only grew interesting in the last few chapters, but not so much as to redeem the book.
