Despite its ambitious title, the album in no way takes the listener on a "journey". Various songs are jumbled together without regard for emotional feel, time of release, musical style, or anything of the sort. What saves the album, however, is the excellent choice of artists. Its selection includes musical legends such as Louis Armstrong, Harry Belafonte, Marvin Gaye, and Whitney Houston among others. The album's worth picking up, in the end, but listeners are better off making up their own playlist.
