Emily's sister is studying for a test and Emily barges in and interrupts. Her sister asks her to have a little empathy. Emily thinks about this concept and looks for ways to show empathy to others. She is helpful to her dad who is in a hurry, she helps a younger kid who has been knocked down, she stands up for another kid. She finds that having empathy not only is helpful to others, but makes her feel good inside.

The illustrations are created in pencil and digitally painted. They are very realistic, full of color and do a very good job at showing emotion.

I did not realize this was a Love and Logic book until after I got it. I adore the concepts that Parenting with Love and Logic teaches. Empathy is very big part of its philosophy. I like the varied examples the story gives of how empathy can be shown to others (adults and kids alike). The examples are clear and easy to understand. The visual example of emotions is very helpful in teaching how to "read" others in order to show them empathy. I highly recommend this book for grades k-5. As an advocate for those on the autism spectrum, I also highly recommend this book to teach those who do not understand social cues (this was the reason I wanted to read the book in the first place). The reader can point out the emotions shown in each example. There is also a letter at the back of the book from the author who explains a little more about empathy.
