"I used to work for the Telepath's Guild before they kicked me out for a drug habit that wasn't entirely my fault. Now I work for the cops, helping Homicide Detective Isabella Cherabino put killers behind bars. My ability to get inside the twisted minds of suspects makes me the best interrogator in the department. But the normals keep me on a short leash. When the Tech Wars ripped the world apart, the Guild stepped up to save it. But they had to get scary to do it--real scary. Now the cops don't trust the telepaths, the Guild doesn't trust me, a serial killer is stalking the city--and I'm aching for a fix. But I need to solve this case. Fast. I've just had a vision of the future: I'm the next to die" -- p. [4] of cover.

I enjoyed this book! It started a bit slow and I found myself describing it as a not-as-good Dresden Files but it does differentiate itself and I will continue with the series to see where it goes. I like the supernatural mental ability concept and though this does have a first book feel it is well executed.

Bad, bad book. A tissue thin plot buttressed by pages and pages of inner monologue of a not-very-interesting character. All the main characters are emotional cripples of one sort of another. Not so much a mystery/thriller as a telepathic version of Eat, Pray, Love

interesting take on use of mind control in police work, looking forward to the next book

A fun blend of gritty detective story and science fiction.

I enjoyed this book a lot. His use of telepathy and teleporting as a mind ability instead of magic keeps it in the realm of scifi. His use of a flawed police consultant using telepathy to solve crimes is believable and very well done. I would highly recommend this book as a quick read that keeps your interest all the way through.
